Introduction

The reinstatement of Cameron House Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond represents a major restoration and enhancement of one of Scotland’s most iconic luxury destinations following fire damage.

Background

The project involved the full refurbishment of the fire-damaged bedroom block, comprising 250 guest rooms, including complete renewal of building infrastructure and services. In parallel, the leisure facilities were comprehensively refurbished to deliver a new luxury spa, gym, swimming pool, cinema, bars and restaurants. The development was further expanded through the construction of a new extension providing an additional 100 bedrooms, ballroom spaces, kitchens, external terraces and landscaped areas, alongside a coordinated estate-wide external lighting strategy.

Challenges

The principal challenge was reinstating and upgrading a large, complex hospitality estate while respecting the hotel’s heritage setting and luxury brand expectations. Works required careful coordination across multiple building types, extensive leisure facilities and external estate areas, all while ensuring modern performance, safety and guest experience standards were achieved.

Solutions

A coordinated refurbishment and extension strategy was implemented, combining full services replacement with high-quality new-build accommodation and leisure spaces. Modern infrastructure and building services were integrated throughout to support luxury hospitality operations, while estate lighting and landscape works enhanced the overall guest experience. The completed development restores Cameron House as a premier destination, providing enhanced facilities, increased capacity and a resilient, future-proofed hotel estate.
