We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Manchester consultancy to include Civil & Structural engineering. This strengthens our integrated engineering capability in the region an builds on our established presence in the city.

The expansion is led by Paul Matthewman, who joins the business as Regional Director, bringing extensive experience leading and growing Civil & Structural teams across the North West.

Strengthening our Manchester presence

This expansion builds on the success of our Manchester MEP and Sustainability teams and reflects our long-term commitment to the region.

As Manchester Director Ian explains, “the Manchester market has welcomed our MEP team since we opened in 2022, and adding Civil & Structural engineering is the next big step and natural progression for us.”

Experience-led Civil & Structural Engineering

Paul is a Chartered Structural Engineer with a experience delivering complex projects across commercial property, residential, heritage, healthcare and life sciences sectors.

He is known for his early-stage advisory approach, technical leadership and focus on dependable, high-quality delivery.

A director-led, integrated approach

Paul’s appointment strengthens our director-led model in Manchester. It allows us to support clients with early, considered advice alongside coordinated Civil & Structural and MEP expertise.

This approach is underpinned by our national depth and specialist capabilities, including CARE-accredited heritage engineering.

Looking ahead, Paul sees the opportunity in Manchester as one of judgement and quality:

“The opportunity in the Manchester market for Civil & Structural engineering lies in standing out through quality, reliability and senior involvement. By providing early-stage advice and managing complexity, we can support clients with well-coordinated, dependable teams. That approach aligns closely with how Harley Haddow works.”

Building for the future
