Project Electrical Engineer, Glasgow Office

Harley Haddow are consulting engineers working in the Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Civil and Structural disciplines. We work closely with Architects and other design orientated colleagues to deliver award winning design focused buildings throughout the UK.

We currently have a vacancy for a full time Project Electrical Engineer to join our busy MEP department based in our Glasgow office.  As a member of the department your responsibilities will include input to the delivery of the Mechanical & Electrical Services Design on assigned projects along with general assistance to the electrical engineering team

The position demands excellent communication skills; you will be representing Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members.


Key responsibilities will include;

  • Assist the electrical engineering team with day to day tasks.
  • To assist in the preparation of Electrical Services Scheme Design proposals.
  • To assist in the delivery of Electrical Services detailed design/ production information.
  • Be actively involved in the day to day operations of the design office.
  • Be willing to adapt and gain vital experience to develop your engineering and design skills


Candidates should have the following experience and skills;

  • Suitable degree qualification in Electrical / Electronic or Building Services discipline. Other degrees shall be considered and reviewed in line with the requirements of the position.
  • Current and previous experience of a similar role
  • Excellent day to day IT skills
  • Experience of Autocad and REVIT
  • Experience in software packages including Amtech, DiaLUX and other specialist electrical packages would be an advantage
  • Ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
  • To be a confident & capable individual with strong technical & communication skills.
  • To be able to represent the company through direct contact with clients and other design team members

Project Structural Engineer
, Glasgow Office

Harley Haddow are consulting engineers working in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Energy disciplines. We work closely with Architects and other design orientated colleagues to deliver award winning design focused buildings throughout the UK.

We currently have a vacancy for a full time Principal Structural Engineer to join our busy Civil & Structural department based in our Glasgow office.  As a member of the department your responsibilities will include delivery of the Structural Design on assigned projects along with assisting the Director and Technical Director with day to day running of the engineering team and department and development of the business.  You will directly oversee the work of a team of Graduate Engineers and Technicians.

The position demands excellent communication skills; you will be representing Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members.  You should have enthusiasm for engineering and the projects you deliver and an ambition to progress your career to the next level.

The role would include the training and development of the candidate, including working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer, and in future SER certifier status, if this is not already attained.


Key responsibilities will include;

  • Responsibility for the delivery of the Structural design on projects assigned to you including detailed design/ production information and specifications
  • To assist in the management of projects or particular elements of projects to ensure delivery dates are met
  • To liaise closely with the Technical Director/Director and ensure that tasks are programmed and achieved
  • To assist with supervision and management of graduate engineers and technicians
  • You shall be aware of the time and costs spent on projects
  • To represent Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members
  • To ensure that repeat business is continued by excellent delivery and client relationships
  • Be actively involved in the day to day operations of the design office, and assist in improving efficiencies and quality.


Candidates should have the following experience and skills;

  • Degree qualified in relevant discipline and a Member of appropriate Institution.
  • Current and previous experience of a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience in preparation of structural engineering designs
  • Demonstrable expertise in time and project management
  • Previous experience of managing others an advantage
  • Ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
  • Excellent people skills and team working approach
  • To be a confident & capable individual with strong technical & communication skills.
  • To be able to able to represent the company through direct contact with clients and other design team member
  • Excellent day to day IT skills
  • Experience of Autocad and REVIT
  • Experience in software packages including TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, ROBOT.
  • Hold a valid UK Driving Licence and be prepared to travel to meetings and projects as necessary
