With an expanding workload, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Sustainability / Energy Engineer to join our well-established energy team based in our Edinburgh office. Relevant experience in a similar role is essential. This position offers excellent career prospects and training for advancement.

Key Skills Necessary:


  • Competent IES User essential – preferably Level 5 Qualified Accredited Energy Assessor
  • Low carbon energy assessor accredited
  • Excellent communication skills, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work and a willingness to share knowledge to thrive in this busy team
  • Ability to confidently attend and lead external design team meetings and workshops, delivering expertise and advice in relation to sustainable building services solutions
  • The ability to produce and review high-quality reports to predefined deadlines
  • The successful candidate will be required to deliver reports for clients, so attention to detail, reliability and good organisational skills are paramount
  • Degree-qualified and ideally working towards chartered status with at least 2-4 years building energy and building services related experience

As a member of the department your responsibilities will include input to the delivery of the Electrical Services Design on assigned projects in Edinburgh. You shall also be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of the Electrical Services design offered by Harley Haddow.

The position demands excellent communication skills; you will be representing Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members.

You will learn by assisting the engineers on projects and be mentored by senior members of the team.  You will be allowed to attend University/other training courses with prior approval of the Departmental Director in order to progress your learning and career goals.

As part of your ongoing training you will be asked to attend one of the local colleges on a day release basis.  On completion of the courses there will also be the opportunity to attend university to obtain degree qualifications.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • To learn the basic elements of tasks within the office and of electrical building services design
  • To assist with M&E Engineering
  • To assist in the preparation of M&E Services drawings
  • Be actively involved in the day to day operations of the design office.


Performance Expectations:


The objectives of the position will be to achieve the following work profile

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Junior CAD/BIM Technician to work within our London office to join our growing team and increasing client base.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of mechanical and electrical drawings from designs undertaken by the MEP engineers. This will involve preparation of models and drawings from hand drawings, sketches or from part layouts prepared by others. You shall be responsible for the archiving and filing of all drawings produced by Harley Haddow plus the incoming drawing information obtained from other design team members
  • Ensuring that MEP drawings produced are of a high standard and adhere to BIM/CAD standards
  • Managing the digital storage and reproduction of incoming and design drawings issued for projects


  • HND/HNC qualified in CAD/BIM technologies
  • Experienced in the use of AutoCAD software
  • Good IT skills with experience of MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Demonstrable expertise in time and project management, delivery and quality of drawings
  • Good people skills and team working approach


Training can be provided dependent on experience.
