  • Project Electrical Engineer (Edinburgh)

    With an expanding workload in our Edinburgh Office, we are seeking to appoint a project electrical engineer to join our well established building services team. All suitably qualified applicants will be considered however ideally they should have a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience within the industry.

    The applicant should have excellent communication skills and be able to represent Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members. They will be expected to manage their own workload to meet project deadlines and confirmed commitments that are often imposed.

    The following are required.

    • Minimum of 2 years post graduate project experience (preferred)
    • Working towards to Chartered engineer status
    • Good people skills and client facing skills.
    • To be a confident & capable individual with strong technical & communication skills.
    • Experience of managing own projects and the electrical engineering output to ensure that quality criteria and project milestones are achieved.
    • To be able to represent the company through direct contact with clients and other design team members
    • Have experience in industry software packages including Autocad, Hevacomp, Amtech and MS Office Suite. Further / Refresher training will be given if required
    • Although not essential, BIM experience would be ideal.


    The role is full time permanent Monday-Friday and based in our central, modern, open plan office.

  • Senior Structural CAD/BIM Technician (Glasgow)

    We are currently recruiting for a Senior Structural CAD/BIM Technician to work within our Glasgow office to join our growing team and increasing client base.

    This position offers the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects including education, healthcare, residential and leisure buildings.

    You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to represent Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members as well as being able to manage your own workload.  You will also have strong architecturally driven design experience.

    Responsibilities will include;

    • Preparation of BIM/CAD drawings (general arrangements and details) of the Structural/Civil Engineering designs undertaken by the Engineers. This may involve preparation of BIM/CAD drawings from hand drawings, sketches or from BIM/CAD layouts prepared by others. You shall be responsible for the management, plotting, issuing, archiving and filing of BIM/CAD drawings produced by Harley Haddow plus the incoming drawing information obtained from other design team members and Contractors.
    • Supervision and management of junior technicians.
    • Liaison with engineers, and the in-house management of projects and deadlines is vital to the role. You shall liaise with the department management team to obtain guidance on project programmes, deadlines and priorities.


    Key Areas of Focus

    • Liaison with the management team to appreciate forthcoming workload and programme priorities
    • Preparation of BIM/CAD drawings for issue to external parties
    • Liaison with other design team members and Contractors
    • Receipt and management/filing of incoming drawings from other design team members and Contractors
    • Reviewing outside Consultants and Contractors drawings
    • Filing and archiving of BIM/CAD drawings prepared by Harley Haddow
    • Maintaining BIM/CAD standards
    • Development of BIM/CAD standards including 3D modelling, library of standard details etc



    • HND/HNC qualified in Civil Engineering or similar qualification
    • At least 10 years experience in preparation of CAD drawings, at least 2 years of which has been in supervision/checking role.
    • Full working knowledge and proficiency in the use of AutoCAD software
    • Good IT skills with experience of MS Office Suite etc
    • Demonstrable expertise in time and project management, delivery and quality of drawings.
    • Good people skills and team working approach

  • Bid Assistant (Edinburgh)

    We currently have a vacancy for a Bids Assistant to join our busy Bids and Marketing Team based in our Edinburgh office.  The team manage the bids and marketing output for all three Harley Haddow offices which means the role is busy and we require a very organised and pro-active person to join the team.

    The focus of the role is to prepare Harley Haddow’s response to bid documents and complete PQQ and supplier information questionnaires and brochures using our inhouse templates (Indesign) and library of information. You will be liaising with colleagues and external parties on a daily basis to ensure that information is collated and submitted to meet tender deadlines.  Other responsibilities include updating the bid information library, searching for new bid opportunities and analysing statistics to prepare won/lost information.  You will also have the opportunity to assist the Marketing and Bids Coordinator with marketing projects such as website updates, social media updates, events planning and marketing strategies.

    Key responsibilities include;

    • Completion of PQQ and Tender documents to meet deadlines
    • Preparation of brochures for business development
    • Proactive working in the company to keep marketing systems and libraries relevant and up to date
    • Checking of email inboxes to keep up to date with progress on tenders
    • Working alongside the Marketing and Bids Coordinator to ensure all deadlines are met
    • Ensure all internal and external comms are on-brand and consistent

    Candidates should have the following experience and skills;

    • Qualified to Degree level or have 1+ years’ experience in a similar role
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Administration experience
    • Excellent IT skills with experience of MS Office Suite. Experience of graphics packages such as Indesign and Photoshop would be beneficial.
    • Ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
    • An interest in the Built Environment
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to liaise with others at all levels
