As a Partner based in our Edinburgh office I lead a dynamic and dedicated team of Associates, Engineers and Engineering Technicians who provide Civil and Structural Engineering design solutions to a wide range of Clients.

In my many years with Harley Haddow I have gained extensive knowledge and an understanding of all forms of new-build construction. In particular I have acquired considerable experience in residential projects - ranging from single one-of designs to large housing estates and multi-storey flatted developments. I also have expertise in the alteration and refurbishment of historic and modern buildings and in the preparation of Structural surveys and feasibility reports.

Whilst a good part of my working day will be taken up by management issues much of my time is still spent on engineering projects. This ranges from preparing concept and scheme designs and attending Client and design team meetings through to overseeing the delivery of final designs and drawings for approvals and to construction stage. I enjoy dealing with the variety of engineering and management challenges which are raised on a day-to-day basis.

In addition to my management and engineering duties I am responsible for preparation and monitoring of the Edinburgh Civil/Structural division’s Engineering Design Quality Control Manual and Staff Training Procedures.

When not doing my bit for Harley Haddow I enjoy spending time with my family. With our son and daughter now both at university, Susan and I enjoy planning and going on foreign travels. There are dozens of places left for us to visit; and on which to spend the kids’ inheritance!

If I’m not at work or at home you’ll probably find me on the golf course! I am a member of Turnhouse Golf Club; currently on the Council and Convenor of the Club Development Committee.
