Currently I am one of two mechanical Technical Directors within the Edinburgh office. I am responsible for delivering the most suitable environmental and M&E services solutions to integrate with the clients requirements and aspirations. Many years of working within the sector including large and prestigious developments has provided a deep understanding of the need to take a holistic view of services and the integration of the M&E services team into the design team as a whole.

I am also extremely interested in renewable energy and reduction in the carbon footprint of buildings both old and new. Integrating these technologies into difficult or unusual developments or developments with particularly onerous parameters is regarded as an enjoyable challenge and one with a particularly important outcome.

I also enjoy the aesthetic of good architecture and the understanding that services should enhance the architecture of a building while fulfilling its necessary functionality.

Outside of work I am interested in sailing and skiing. I am currently the Racing Secretary at East Lothian Yacht Club where I can be found racing my asymmetric dinghy. I am also Vice Chairman of the Royal Yachting Associations Scotland’s Racing Committee (involving all aspects of Sail Racing) and a member of Royal Yachting Associations Scotland’s Council which is the executive committee of sailings governing body in Scotland.

Having taken up skiing fairly late on in the scheme of things, I enjoy being pushed into new and increasingly difficult trials on the piste for my slowly developing expertise. Hopefully I will progress sufficiently in the coming years to ensure that being blasted around a mountain by a BASI trainer will be more pleasure than pain.  I find it a great escape and extremely relaxing to be outside in the mountains never the less.
