My role as Finance Director includes responsibility for all the financial aspects of the Practice; an area that I feel is of fundamental importance to any organisation and one which we monitor very fastidiously.
Other roles include Trustee/Administrator of our Pension schemes and fund. This is a role that has taken up more of my time, and due to recent Government legislation has become a more onerous role for all Trustees.
My HR role also means that constant governmental changes keep me on my toes.
Overall, my role is to monitor and attend to all non-engineering aspects of the business, and to assist/advise all Partners and Departments where I can, and I would like to think that having been with the practice over 16 years that I must be doing something right.
On a personal note; I have two daughters, two sons and three grand children to keep me occupied and to supply the normal levels of anxiety and sheer happiness that children are so capable of. I enjoy cycling, hill walking, swimming, playing golf “badly” and partaking of the odd glass of red.
My other half is Hamish Young who, for those paying attention will note is one of the Partners, which could be described as mixing business with pleasure, on the other hand!!!
