As an Electrical Engineer I am responsible for the design and specification of a wide range of services which include the design of Lighting, Power Systems, Voice & Data and Life safety systems such as Fire Alarms and Emergency Lighting.
As the designers of electrical systems we have always been aware of the sustainability of the buildings we help to create, and have focused on the energy usage, maintenance and life cycles of the equipment we design, which provides our Clients with a building that is energy efficient in terms of its power consumption and the conservation of energy. This can be as simple as switching lights by means of presence detectors to more complex installations such as the design of CHP plants for the conversion of heat to electrical energy.
Each of these are centred on the users of the buildings to help make the building more manageable and efficient in its lifetime and to reduce the amount of energy that is consumed and wasted in a building's life time.
Away from the office my wife Hazel and I have two young children Ross (4) and Niamh (2), all spare time is spent with them, this involves painting, bike rides in the park, play time in the local swing park, football in the garden, hide and seek in the house and building skyscrapers from Lego. As well as football practice, swimming lessons, gymnastic classes and nursery, but not all in the one day!, they're only little!
