I am responsible for the provision of Structural and Civil Engineering services from the Glasgow Office.
The wide ranging and extensive overall capabilities offered by the department is a reflection of the excellence of the overall structural team within the department. The skills base is reflective of a wide project history/environment which extends from general building structures and construction, through specialist timber frame design, forensic engineering/litigation support, specialist refurbishments and structural repairs. We continue a long tradition of timber frame design with a substantial number of well-known firms now provided with tailored design services.
Additionally, having Neil Robson, fellow Building Services Partner operating from the same office, allows the Practice to offer conjoined/dual role services on single projects where appropriate. Like all departments within the extended organisation, we recognise that the collective as a whole is greater than the individual unit and that is never more true when it comes to utilising the vast breadth of knowledge that exists within the Practice as a whole.
Environmental and sustainability issues are high on the agenda and I have a keen interest in timber frame and lean build techniques, the obligatory SUDS drainage issues, recycling and energy efficiency make a majority of projects particularly interesting from a number of angles.
The department's recent involvement in a range of litigation support services has highlighted that there is a substantial breadth of experience within the firm which can be offered to the marketplace and development of future specialist services are now in the pipeline.
Outside the work environment, my time is enjoyed within a small family circle and extends outside to the local church, where assistance is provided over a range of items and additionally a local school where lay finance and property assistance is given to aid the Board of Governors.
